The Mogul, from HTC, is one of the few smartphones that is available through Sprint/Nextel. This handheld has a lot of business-oriented features and qualities, but at $550, it is an expensive phone.
The HTC Mogul has typical phone functions including speakerphone, voice dialing, text messaging and multimedia text messaging. Furthermore, this handheld offers multiple avenues to communicate through email. You can access browser-based email, it supports POP3/IMAP and it even has real time push email. This is a great feature for businesspersons relying heavily on email for communication.
As far as multimedia functions, the Mogul has a 2-mega pixel camera, photo organizer and you can shoot and view video. The ability to connect to the web via Wi-Fi sets this phone apart from much of its competition. You can view full webpages and use the phone as a portable modem for your laptop making it great for business trips.
The Mogul is sleek in design without many buttons on the face of the device; however, a full QWERTY keypad slides out from behind the screen. According to other reviews, the joystick-like navigation pad doesn’t offer the same quality as the rest of the phone and feels slightly cheap.
Overall, the Mogul has many good aspects but we were not impressed with the $550 price tag. Nevertheless, if you’re a Sprint/Nextel customer and are looking for a versatile smartphone, this is one to consider.
